being stupid is fun

i was one of the smart kids in elementary school and growing up, being/acting stupid was not an option. but over the past few years, embracing stupidity has opened up my world. things don’t need to have meaning to matter and reason is relative anyway — do the dumb thing because you want to or it’s fun*!

* does not apply if you’re gonna mess shit up for someone else

ps:

here’s what i mean by stupid. we’re working with the “marked by or resulting from unreasoned thinking or acting” definition of the word

pps:

giving myself the permission to be a dumbass was probably part of some healing process, because it only happened when i realized that:

  1. i couldn’t do much to change strangers’ assumptions about me, and
  2. it didn’t matter if those people thought i was smart or capable

when you work a service job, a lot of people assume that you are not smart, skilled, or educated enough to get a “better” (aka more respected) one. this was compounded with the absolutely weird assumptions people make about my english skills or temperament.

and that sucks for them, because you can get a lot of free shit when you’re nice to service workers and treat them like people 🤪
